About the show
Bob Marley’s name is synonymous with the reggae movement. But whilst many recognise the unmistakable rhythms of his music, fewer know the remarkable story of Marley’s life both on and off stage. From assassination attempts and number one hits to his position as a leading figure of Rastafarianism, Marley remains an inspiration for millions worldwide following his death in 1981.
Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Story boasts unprecedented access to Marley’s back catalogue, with hits including 3 Little Birds, No Woman No Cry and Exodus featuring in this story of his life.
Arinzé Kene stars as Bob Marley, taking on the role after critical success with his one-man show Misty at Bush Theatre and Trafalgar Studios. His other credits include Death of a Salesman at the Young Vic, alongside Wendell Pierce and Sharon D. Clarke.
The musical features a book by Billy Elliott scribe Lee Hall and is directed by Olivier Award winner Dominic Cooke. Cooke’s recent hits include a revival of Follies at the National Theatre, and a 2020 revival of Hello, Dolly! starring Imelda Staunton.
