Ghost Stories in London

Following a smash-hit, sell-out UK tour, Ghost Stories returns to London for another few edge-of-your-seat weeks, guaranteed to leave audiences thrilled. Delving into our worst fears and deepest impulses, this exhilarating play about a cynical supernatural researcher has a strictly limited run at Holborn's Peacock Theatre over the Halloween period. “Genuine scary fun” (The Sunday Times), Ghost Stories is the perfect viewing for Spooky Season, so book your tickets now - if you dare…

What is the play Ghost Stories about?

Narrated by Philip Goodman, Professor of Parapsychology - the study of the paranormal - Ghost Stories probes into the supernatural and spooky by recounting tales of eerie encounters with the uncanny. The sceptical Goodman interviews the subjects of three apparent hauntings: a night watchman, a teen boy, and a businessman who is also a dad-to-be. But as each chilling story unfolds, Goodman’s rationality is pushed to the brink, and he finds himself running out of logical explanations…

A love letter to the horror genre, Ghost Stories premiered at Liverpool Playhouse in 2010 and has since enjoyed multiple West End runs, including a stint at the Duke of York’s Theatre that same year. The play has chilled and thrilled audiences internationally, with performances in Japan, Australia and the US, and in 2017 a film adaptation was made starring Andy Nyman, Paul Whitehouse and Martin Freeman.

Who are the cast and creative team of Ghost Stories?

Ghost Stories is co-written and directed by BAFTA winner and The League of Gentlemen writer Jeremy Dyson (Tales of the Unexpected, The Armstrong and Miller Show ) and Olivier Award-winning actor and writer Andy Nyman (Fiddler on the Roof, The Producers ) who is also a long-time collaborator and writer for illusionist Derren Brown.

Casting is to be announced for this London revival, but previous casts have included Andy Nyman (who originated the role of Professor Goodman as well as co-writing the show), Dyson’s fellow League of Gentleman writer-performer Reece Sheersmith (Inside No 9 ), Simon Lipkin (Doctor Who ) and Clive Mantell (Game of Thrones ).

The show was very entertaining and intense because it was condensed into an hour and a half. There were effective jump scares achieved through sound and stage lighting. Highly recommended for fans of the horror genre.

This is one of my favourite horror plays. The story, staging and atmosphere were amazing. The show is also very meta, which adds to the horror element.

This show is so brilliant and the twist at the end, you think you know what's happening and it changes. The characters are well portrayed and actors are really good. Definitely go and see this play. Just keep your wits about you!
