Barmy Britain in London

Forget boring lessons about tedious Tudors and stuffy Saxons: Horrible Histories is back in the West End this summer with Barmy Britain! This family show from the award-winning team behind Awful Egyptians and Ruthless Romans promises gruesomely good historical facts and hair-raising figures from the olden days. School’s out, but learning for fun is definitely in at the Apollo Theatre, near Tottenham Court Road.

What Is Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain About?

Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain invites the whole family to experience history with all the nasty bits left in! From battling legendary warrior queen Boudicca and escaping dastardly graverobbers Burke and Hare, to a quick stop to party with Queen Victoria (you will be amused!), this is a riotous chance to get up close and personal with history’s most exciting moments and most eccentric people.

Following up on previous Barmy Britain productions, this is the ultimate pick ‘n’ mix of figures and events from the past. You might have heard of some, but you won’t know the full story, and this is a fantastic way to get kids interested in learning.

The Creative Team of Horrible Histories Live

The best-selling Horrible Histories books were created by Terry Deary and inspired a hit television series full of catchy songs including “King of Bling” and “The Monarch’s Song”. They’ve since expanded to the big screen, with Horrible Histories: Rotten Romans invading cinemas.

On stage, shows including Groovy Greeks, Terrible Tudors and Ruthless Romans have played up and down the UK, created by multi-award-nominated children’s theatre creators Birmingham Stage Company. Artistic Director Neal Foster founded the company over three decades ago, and their hit productions include Awful Auntie, Gangsta Granny and Barmy Britain parts one to five!

Very simple set with blacks for backdrop. Props were mostly on stage for quick change. Music and lighting were good. The two actors had this off pat (and good at timing) while still throwing some very up to date additions/jokes! Love the audience par Read more
