Jesus Christ Superstar Tickets

London Palladium

Opens 20th June

Eurovision star Sam Ryder leads this rock‑powered revival of Regents Park's critically-acclaimed production of the iconic musical.

Jesus Christ Superstar in London

The five‑star rock‑musical phenomenon Jesus Christ Superstar comes to the London Palladium in the heart of Soho, following critically‑acclaimed runs at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2016 and 2017. This “gorgeous, thrilling, heavenly” (Guardian) staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s sung-through rock-musical about the last days of Jesus Christ’s life, and his betrayal by Judas Iscariot, comes to the West End for a strictly limited run, with Eurovision star Sam Ryder making his West End debut in the lead role.

What is the musical Jesus Christ Superstar about?

Set in the final days of Jesus’s life, Jesus Christ Superstar follows the growing tension between Jesus of Nazareth and his disciple Judas Iscariot, who fears that Jesus’s message has been distorted and that his growing influence will provoke Roman retaliation. As crowds gather and expectations rise, Jesus struggles with his role as both spiritual leader and political figure. The story, told largely from Judas’s perspective, charts betrayal, sacrifice, and the weight of destiny.

This new staging brings the 2017 open‑air triumph into the West End, featuring all your favourite emotionally charged rock anthems, including “I Don’t Know How to Love Him”, “Gethsemane”, “Heaven on Their Minds”, and the title number “Superstar”.

The History of Jesus Christ Superstar

Jesus Christ Superstar began life as a concept album in 1970, created by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice. Its bold fusion of rock music and biblical storytelling quickly captured public imagination, with the album topping charts in several countries. Following its success, the show made its stage debut on Broadway in 1971 and premiered in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre in 1972, where it ran for over eight years.

It has since become one of the world’s most enduring and frequently revived musicals, inspiring numerous international tours, film adaptations and reimaginings - including most recently a concert staging at the Hollywood Bowl starring Cynthia Erivo and Adam Lambert. This 2026 revival revisits the critically acclaimed Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre 2016 production, which received a second staging at the Open Air Theatre in 2017 and received both an indoor staging at the Barbican and a US tour. The magic is brought indoors once again for a West End limited season this summer.
