The whole family are invited to help Nick Bottom and his famous Rude Mechanicals put on a spectacular new show in Midsummer Mechanicals at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse! The fun and chaotic interactive play is back at the indoor venue this summer. The Rude Mechanicals went down in theatre history a long time ago, with their bold, brilliant and topsy-turvy performance of Pyramus and Thisbe. Now they’re back to stage their second show, but will everything go to plan? With half an hour to go until curtain up, the actors are sort-of ready, the play is partly rehearsed, and the audience is waiting… all they need is a little bit of help from you! Created for Shakespeare’s Globe in collaboration with Splendid Productions, Midsummer Mechanicals is a play aimed at children, directed by Lucy Cuthbertson and Kerry Frampton. It brings A Midsummer Night’s Dream’s Bottom and co. to life with ridiculous costumes, absurd props, slapstick fun and lots of twists that will have you in fits of laughter. Midsummer Mechanicals tickets are the perfect way for children to enjoy Shakespeare for the very first time.
