My Neighbour Totoro Tickets

Studio Ghibli’s magical story on stage

Enter the magical world of classic Studio Ghibli film My Neighbour Totoro as it is transformed into a stunning new stage production, premiering at the Barbican Theatre this year.

My Neighbour Totoro follows Satsuki and Mei, who move with their father to be closer to their sick mother whilst she is receiving treatment. Over one incredible summer, the sisters befriend a series of spirits in the woodlands, including the larger-than-life forest protector Totoro.

Hayao Miyazaki’s’s 1988 film has delighted audiences with its whimsical, heartwarming coming-of-age story for decades. it is now brought to the stage in a ground-breaking new production from the Royal Shakespeare Company (Matilda the Musical) and composer Joe Hisaishi, which combines puppetry (from Basil Twist, built by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop), music and storytelling.

The film’s original score, by Hisaishi, will be performed live each night alongside new orchestrations by Will Stuart.

Find your spirit with My Neighbour Totoro tickets in London - this enchanting show will delight all generations with its nostalgic story of sisterhood and childhood fantasy.

This show was INCREDIBLE… I really hope it comes back to London because wow… the effects are so well done!! And such a small cast as well?!?! The puppeteers brought the characters to life in a way I didn’t think was going to be possible for this show! They really kept the studio ghibli magic ~

I haven't got the words to describe how amazing the show was. I was holding back the tears of joy. I didn't think it was possible to bring one of my favourite films to the stage while still keeping the charm. They certainly did. Fantastic staging & music. Brilliant casts (especially the 2 leads who played the girls who were outstanding). Fantastic puppetry I like the way they didn't hide so you could see how they were doing it (although I am still amazed how they did certain scenes). One of the longest standing ovation I have experienced in a theatre (and rightly so). I didn't want it to end (I would have happily gone straight back in and watch it again). This is one of the most popular shows of the year (it was the fastest selling show the Barbican has ever had), I just hope that the show gets transferred to other theatre when its run has finished so people get to see this outstanding brilliant show. By far the best theatre show I have ever seen. Please just give all the theatre awards to this show, they deserve them all. Can not recommend this show highly enough.

Amazing visual show with fantastic effects! I would only fault that the actual storyline is pretty weak but the rest does make up for it. Hard to say more without spoilers!

I wasn't at all familiar with the anime classic, but I watched it on Netflix and then saw the show. Magical! I sat next to someone who had grown up with this tale. The two girls (really women) were fabulous, and the stage sets and puppets were incredible. A charming story, great for the whole family.

Magnificent! Lavish and creative, they went all-out. It's a shame they only have a limited run. The atmosphere was do positive. The live music is unnecessary (played back through speakers anyway) but a nice touch. Loved how they included the "invisible" pupetteers in the show.
