Best Seats Money Can Buy
The Lion King is a real explosion of colour, movement and music, and if you don’t mind splashing out on tickets, the best seats are in Central Stalls, Rows K-Q and Central Royal Circle, Rows A-C.
- Central Stalls, Rows K-Q (approx. £145-£240). Close enough to see every detail of the vibrant performances, and far enough to take in the spectacle. Sitting in the Stalls is an immersive and exhilarating experience, as animals parade down the aisles!
- Central Royal Circle, A-C (approx. £110-£186). Perfect for sweeping views that don’t feel too distant. One theatregoer sitting in Royal Circle C28 said, “You could feel the action there and the emotion was overpowering.”
Also Consider: The inside aisles of Stalls Row D-T and the middle of Stalls Rows C-E offer brilliant views for up to 25% less than premium tickets.
Best Cheap Seats
If you want to be saying “Hakuna Matata” after booking tickets, the cheap seats are for you – and a lot of them offer fantastic views. The best cheap seats are in the Grand Circle (approx. £41-£78), where the front rows feel more open and closer than the back of the Royal Circle below. In particular, take a look at the restricted view seats in Rows A-D (from £41), which can be better than expected!
Best Seats for Magical Family Memories
The Lion King is one of the biggest London theatre shows for kids, with a good view from most sections, but some will really create core memories for your little ones. Top areas for families include aisle seats in the Stalls, Royal Circle Rows B-K, and the Boxes.
- Stalls – Middle Aisle Seats (from £75). Seats on either side of the middle aisle are especially good for experiencing the amazing animal costumes and puppetry. Mattheww94, who sat in Stalls J16, explains: “[You’re] right next to the ensemble dancers and puppet animals who came down the aisle a handful of times throughout the show.”
- Royal Circle Rows B-K (approx. £63-£174). This area is excellent for giving a full, sweeping view of the stage without feeling very far away. Elizabethi, who sat in Royal Circle B35, said, “My 10-year-old son thought the view was amazing.”
- Boxes. Fantastic for a bit of privacy and room to move if kids get a little restless, plus some interaction with performers.
Seats to Avoid
Simba’s fight to regain his throne and restore the Pride Lands is an epic story that fills the whole theatre, but there are a few areas you might want to be aware of before booking. Seats to avoid include the middle of Stalls Row A, Royal Circle Row A, and Royal Circle AA.
- Central Stalls Row A (from £90). Some people report the stage being high, but the main issue here is the orchestra pit and conductor, which might block the view a bit – especially for children. However, proximity to the performers and puppets is incredible.
- Royal Circle Row A (from £110). The safety railing along the front of the Royal Circle can block the view for anyone under 5ft tall, so Row B-C is comparatively better for the same price.
- Royal Circle AA (from £41). These seats are marked restricted view, and aren’t recommended for a first visit. A theatregoer in Royal Circle AA50 noted that, “The view from this seat was slightly obscured by a light rigging, and you could not see the left-hand side of the stage without leaning to see around it.”
It’s worth mentioning that several of these areas have a very wide range of ratings from our users, depending on who they attended with and their perception of value for money – so one person’s “avoid” might be your hidden gem.
Hidden Gems
Hidden gems are seats we think deserve a bit more attention – and, like little Simba, offer more than you might expect at first glance! Top picks include the Side Stalls restricted view seats and Stalls Row T.
- Side Stalls Restricted View, Rows A-P (approx. £40-£64). We recommend sitting from Row E backwards on the right-hand side for the best view. From the left, “you will miss bits of Pride Rock”, says pramilas in Stalls K41.
- Stalls Row R (from £110). Great news for parents and taller theatregoers: the aisle in front means extra legroom, and animals walk right in front of you during the show!
