What is the musical Sinatra about?
It’s New Year's Eve, 1942, and as a singer steps onto the stage of the Paramount Theatre, New York, he has no idea he’s about to give a performance that will change the face of music forever. That skinny, 27-year-old Italian-American is Frank Sinatra, and as his career suddenly goes stratospheric, Frank must balance the love of his wife, Nancy, with the demands of fame.
But with fame comes temptation, and when Frank’s affair with movie star Ava Gardner comes to light, the press turns on their former golden boy, and Frank’s career is sent into a tailspin. Desperate to make things right with his family and to earn back the public’s love, Frank uses his trademark charm, his unparalleled artistry and his scrappy determination to stage what promises to be the biggest comeback in the history of showbiz.
Sinatra The Musical premiered at the Birmingham Rep in 2023, and has long been anticipated for a West End Transfer. The musical features some of Sinatra’s biggest hits, including “One For My Baby“, “That’s Life“, and “The Best Is Yet to Come”.
