What is the play Chinese Republicans about?
Three well‑established businesswomen have kept up a monthly lunch for years, where they meet to celebrate triumphs, network, and consolidate power. Enter Katie, a bright‑eyed 24‑year‑old newcomer to the corporate finance world. Her arrival jolts the dynamic: the women attempt to steer Katie according to their own lifetime of ambition and compromises, but in doing so, they start to question how much they’ve already given up to climb the ladder.
Mixing sharp‑tongued humour with the harsh reality of modern capitalism, Chinese Republicans explores themes of assimilation, generational conflict, identity, gender politics in the workplace, and what it really means to succeed.
