Creative Team
In this sparkling new production, Pirates of Penzance is reimagined in the streets of New Orleans’ French Quarter, with a jazz and blues vision and Caribbean rhythms. Scott Eliss (Doubt, Kiss Me Kate) directs, with sizzling choreography from Warren Carlyle (Harmony, Kiss Me Kate) and a hilarious new adaptation by Rupert Holmes (The Mystery of Edwin Drood). The show also features musical direction by Joseph Joubert (Caroline, or Change) and orchestrations by Joubert and Daryl Waters (Memphis).

Ramin Karimloo and David Hyde Pierce star in this exciting production as the Pirate King and the Major General.
Karimloo brings his formidable vocals to this beloved story, after wowing theatergoers as the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera and Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. He has also appeared in Anastasia and Funny Girl on Broadway.
Pierce is a four-time Emmy Award winner best known for his portrayal of Dr. Niles Crane in Frasier. He won a Tony Award for Curtains and has also appeared in Hello, Dolly and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.

This show was a hoot. Nonstop laughs and high-energy choreography. It still has the best parts of the original operetta while updating the book with a bit of Mischief Theater-style fourth-wall breaking and New Orleans jazz band music.
