About Romeo and Juliet

The Montagues and Capulets: two powerful families who hate each other, but when Romeo and Juliet meet, it feels like love at first sight. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is one of the most famous tragedies ever written. Its heartbreaking story of two young people trapped in the cycle of their family’s wars has resonated with artists and theatergoers for hundreds of years, and this latest revival soars from intoxicating highs to brutal lows as a generation on the edge dreams of change.

Another “modernisation” of a classic but this missed the mark for me. The addition of music and song felt unnatural and unnecessary - the strange choice of having the same actor play two parts and introducing themselves felt like a school play!
