Soprano Elza van den Heever (Maria Stuarda) stars as Salome, with baritone Peter Mattei (Don Giovanni) as Jochanaan. Tenor Gerhard Siegel (Elektra) plays Herod, and mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung (Das Rheingold) takes on the role of Herodias.Yannick Nézet-Séguin, celebrated conductor and music director of the Metropolitan Opera, brings his unparalleled expertise to Strauss’s dynamic score. Renowned for his work on productions such as Don Carlos and The Magic Flute, Nézet-Séguin is lauded for his ability to bring emotional depth and precision to both classic and contemporary works. Derrick Inouye conducts select performances in this striking new production, directed by Claus Guth (The Flying Dutchman).
