The 39 Steps Tickets

Trafalgar Theatre

The smash-hit comedy thriller, inspired by Hitchcock’s classic film, returns to the West End for the first time in 10 years this summer.

The 39 Steps Tickets - The Hit Comedy Thriller Returns!

Buckle up and get ready for adventure: smash-hit comedy thriller The 39 Steps is back in the West End for the first time since 2015, promising intrigue, glamour, romance, danger and a lot of laughs.

Join handsome secret service agent Richard Hannay on his fearless escapades in this brilliantly inventive play, based on Hitchcock’s classic film. Four actors, 139 characters and 100 whirlwind minutes of hilarious espionage parody… catch this plucky British favourite during its limited season at Trafalgar Theatre this summer.

About The 39 Steps

Dashing spy Richard Hannay has it all: the quintessential stiff upper lip, gung-ho attitude and pencil moustache, and he’s ready to do his duty. Follow him as he encounters dastardly murderers, double agents, and drop-dead gorgeous women.

Mixing spy novel tropes, Hitchcock genius and the very best of British slapstick absurdity, The 39 Steps is a rip-roaring comedy thriller, returning to the West End for the first time in 10 years following a hit UK tour. Seen by 3 million people worldwide in over 39 countries, it won an Olivier Award for Best Comedy in 2007 and two Tony Awards in 2008. The show famously parodies Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 film, with every character played by a hardworking cast of just four actors.

Creative Team

The 39 Steps is adapted from the film and novel by Patrick Barlow (Noel Coward Theatre: A Christmas Carol), based on an idea by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon. Following its successful Broadway run in 2012, the show helped Barlow become the most-performed playwright in America. Originally directed by Maria Aitken, this new revival is helmed by Nicola Samer, who also directed the show’s 2024 tour.

Casting is to be announced, but audiences can expect to enjoy watching four of the hardest-working actors in London on stage, as they whizz through various roles at breakneck speed.

Had a really enjoyable evening watching this play. Expect a light detective/action story with lots of silly humour, expertly delivered by this cast of just four people (plus a hard working stage crew)!
