What is the musical Beetlejuice about?
Beetlejuice the Musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose whole life changes when she meets mild-mannered, recently deceased couple, the Maitlands, and a wildcard demon with a thing for stripes. Luckily, Lydia is totally obsessed with “the whole being dead thing” and befriends Beetlejuice, the ghost-with-the-most from six feet under. Together, Lydia and Beetlejuice hatch a plan to scare Lydia’s absent dad into paying attention to her, but when the Juice is loose, surely only chaos can ensue…
Tim Burton’s much-loved 1988 film was a huge critical and commercial success, starring Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, as well as Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis as Adam and Barbara Maitland and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz. Beetlejuice the Musical opened on Broadway in 2019, earning eight Tony nominations, before heading out on a US tour in late 2020. The show has since returned to Broadway briefly in 2023, and comes to Broadway again, again, again this spooky season for a limited run. Beetlejuice has been highly anticipated for a London transfer - so make sure to “jump in the line” and snap up your tickets today!
