Dreamboats and Petticoats Tickets

Wyndham's Theatre

Scott Bruton and Ben Freeman star in new rock ‘n’ roll musical Dreamboats and Petticoats at the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre. Featuring a swinging score that will take audiences back to the golden era of the fifties, Dreamboats and Petticoats is the ultimate jukebox musical, including songs from Billy Fury, Eddie Cochrane and many, many more!

Playing to over two million people worldwide since first premiering in 2009, new musical Dreamboats and Petticoats glides in to London’s Wyndham’s Theatre for a strictly limited season. Inspired by the smash-hit, multi-million selling album Dreamboats and Petticoats, which became one of the biggest selling albums of the Noughties, this all-new musical comes as a result of the album’s unprecedented runaway success.

Set in 1961, emotions are running high as teenage musicians Norman and Bobby both compete to win a national song-writing competition and, more importantly, the hearts of their adoring female sweethearts. When Laura catches the attention of the boys, friendships threaten to fall apart as a world of rock ‘n’ roll soon beckons. A hugely entertaining jukebox musical that conjures up the fabulous fifties, Dreamboats and Petticoats features a score from the likes of Roy Orbison, Eddie Cochrane, The Shadows, Billy Fury and many more!

Scott Bruton (The X Factor) and Ben Freeman (Emmerdale) star as Bobby and Norman respectively, alongside Daisy Wood-Davis (The Boat That Rocked) as Laura. Further casting includes AJ Dean as Ray, Jennifer Biddall as Sue, Emma Hatton as Donna, David Cardy as Older Bobby, Patrick Burbridge as Derek, Sophie Byrne as Daisy/Brenda, Deborah Hewitt as Helen, Robin Johnson as Barry and Michael Kantola as Colin.

Directed by Bob Tomson (On the Piste), Dreamboats and Petticoats features a book by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, as well as choreography by Carole Todd, design by Sean Cavanagh, lighting design by Mark Howett and sound design by Ben Harrison. Featuring swingin’ songs such as “Let’s Dance”, “Only Sixteen”, “Great Pretender” and “Let’s Twist Again”, Dreamboats and Petticoats is the rocking musical not to be missed!

This is an enjoyable show but nothing particularly special that would make me want to see it again. The narrative is sweet but predictable. 'Dreamboats and Petticoats' will logically be enjoyed most by people who were alive back in the 50's/60's wher Read more
