Guys and Dolls Tickets

The hotly anticipated UK tour of Chichester Festival Theatre’s Guys and Dolls arrived for a seasonal stint at London’s Savoy Theatre. Guys and Dolls was first seen on Broadway in 1950 and in the West End in 1953. Since then the show has had numerous tours and revivals, picking up a plethora of Tony and Olivier Awards along the way. Set in 50’s New York, Guys and Dolls tells the sordid tale of gamblers, gangsters and club singers who are all involved in somewhat illicit goings on across the city. The show focuses on the character of Nathan Detroit, somewhat of a gangster who runs an illegal dice game, much to the dismay of his long suffering fiancé, Adelaide. Nathan takes on prolific gambler, Sky Masterson, in order to win some much needed cash. Nathan bets Sky that he cannot woo Christian missionary, Sarah Brown but of course Sky believes otherwise and it is game on. Can Sky date the undatable, can Nathan please Adelaide, who is desperate to reform him? Guys and Dolls contains the highly praised musical numbers, “A Bushel and a Peck,” “Luck be a Lady,” and Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat.” On top of the fantastic music, the audience were also treated to sizzling choreography by Carlos Acosta and Andrew Wright. Guys and Dolls is by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, with music and lyrics by Frank Losser. This production was directed by Gordon Greenberg, with designs by Peter McKintosh. Guys and Dolls ran until the 12th of March 2016 and was one of the hottest theatre tickets this winter.
