Soon after his release from prison, Moat shot his ex-girlfriend, killed her partner, and blinded a police officer, before going on the run. In the wake of his violence, a week-long manhunt across Northumberland began, with the nation tracking every twist and turn through their screens. It ended with a cornered Moat shooting himself.
