Shakespeare’s famous tragedy is the latest to receive the New Adventures company treatment. Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet plays at Sadler’s Wells for a strictly limited summer season between 7 and 31 August 2019.

Discover a contemporary re-imagining of Shakespeare's tragic love story with Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet. This is the latest in the New Adventures repertoire, following on from Swan Lake, Cinderella and The Red Shoes. Featuring incredible young dance talent and Bourne's renowned choreography and direction, this promises to be a thrilling production for a modern audience. Witness it at Sadler’s Wells during its limited summer run. A household name, Matthew Bourne is a British choreographer who has been presenting award-winning dance shows for three decades. He is also the artist director of New Adventures, a contemporary dance company which he founded. The recipient of many major awards, he has also been knighted for services to dance and was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Award. The piece is performed by the brightest new talent who have recently joined the New Adventures company. New orchestrations of the gorgeous Sergei Prokofiev score come from Terry Davies and are performed live by the New Adventures Orchestra. Depending on the performance, the role of Juliet is played by Cordelia Braithwaite, Seren Williams, Bryony Wood or Bryony Harrison. The part of Romeo is played by either Paris Fitzpatrick, Harrison Dowzell, Andrew Monaghan or Joao Carolino. Design is the work of Lez Brotherston, lighting comes from Paule Constable and sound is by Paul Groothuis. Get lost in the romance and the drama of Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet when it plays at Sadler’s Wells from 7 until 31 August 2019.
