The Ultimate Battle of Wits: Much Ado About Nothing Tickets

Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell light up the stage as Shakespeare’s sparring lovers, Benedick and Beatrice, in Much Ado About Nothing at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The world-class duo returns to the West End to collaborate with Olivier Award winner Jamie Lloyd in this sharply funny but beautifully redemptive play, following Lloyd’s triumphant Sunset Boulevard and sold-out Romeo and Juliet.

About Much Ado About Nothing

War is over and the soldiers are returning home. For Beatrice, coming face-to-face with Benedick means falling back into petty squabbling, sharp-tongued insults and quick comebacks. It’s a huge contrast to her cousin Hero, who is sweetly besotted with Claudio. But when a cruel prank backfires and the four lovers are thrown into disarray, will their relationships weather the storm?

Shakespeare’s beloved comedy is the blueprint for modern rom-com, as sexual politics and witty wordplay come together in a heartwarming celebration of love and redemption.

Hayley Atwell and Tom Hiddleston in Much Ado About Nothing

Shakespeare’s most famous comic lovers are played by two of the UK’s finest actors in this new production.

Tom Hiddleston (Benedick), best known as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, collaborates with Jamie Lloyd for a second time following 2019’s Betrayal. His other stage credits include Coriolanus, Cymbeline and Othello.

Hayley Atwell (Beatrice) is another Marvel alumnus, known for her role as Peggy Carter in Captain America. On stage, she last appeared in the West End in Rosmersholm (2019) and collaborated with Jamie Lloyd in 2008’s The Pride.

Jamie Lloyd and the Creative Team

Olivier Award-winning director Jamie Lloyd continues to dominate the West End with his star-studded revivals of classic plays and musicals. Following Sunset Boulevard, starring Nicole Scherzinger, and Romeo and Juliet with Tom Holland, he takes over Drury Lane for a season of Shakespeare which also features Sigourney Weaver in The Tempest.

Lloyd, known for his stripped-back style and talent for attracting huge stars to the stage, is one of the most influential theatre directors working today. His long-time collaborator, set designer Soutra Gilmour, transfers with him for this new season.
