These top price seats are anything but “Naughty”! Premium seating for Matilda the Musical is located in Stalls Rows F-K and Dress Circle Rows A-B.
- Stalls Rows F-K (approx. £165-£180). The theatre has a shallow rake, so seats a few rows from the front are best for a close-up but unobstructed view of the stunning alphabet set and gasp-worthy special effects.
- Dress Circle Rows A-B (approx. £165-£180). These seats offer a great overview of the whole stage, particularly in choreography-heavy scenes.User daisgrace said of Dress Circle B17, “These have to be up there with the best seats in the house.”
Also Consider: For excellent views of the stage that cost up to 20% less than the top price, try Stalls Rows C-L (approx. £150) and Dress Circle Row C (approx. £150).
Best Cheap Seats
Is your budget more Miss Honey than Ms Trunchbull? Bargain seats can be found in the Upper Circle. This level is split into two sections, front (Rows A-F) and rear (Rows G-M).
- Central seats in Upper Circle Rows A-C (from £90) and Rows D-F (from £78) offer a clear, unimpeded view that doesn’t feel too distant. Theatregoers attending with children should opt for seats from row B backwards because of the safety rail in Row A.
Best Seats For Kids
You don’t need to wait until you’ve grown up to go to the theatre, as Matilda the Musical is the perfect show for all ages. Most users with children recommend sitting in Dress Circle Rows B-J or Stalls Rows G-Q.
- Stalls Rows G-Q (approx £80-114). The rake starts at Row G, so those attending with children should opt for rows after this to reduce the chance of people blocking the view. Sit toward the centre of the auditorium to possibly grab a special souvenir – user cyrahm sat in Stalls H18 and said, “Was even able to catch a paper aeroplane”!
- Dress Circle Rows B-J (approx. £79-180). An excellent overview of the whole stage thanks to tiered seating, with fewer heads in the way. Avoid Row A, because the safety rail will obstruct the view for children. User arlenes6 said of Dress E31,“I took my 2 children, and these were the perfect seats for us.” The colourful alphabet set is clearly visible here, so kids can spot the secret words hidden in the arch before the show begins!
Seats to Avoid
Opinions on seats always differ – someone’s favourite could be your worst nightmare, but our users would send seats towards the rear of the Upper Circle to the Chokey, particularly when attending with children.
- Users sitting in Upper Circle Row J35 (approx. £42), found that the view wasn’t terrible, but the angle meant the very front of the stage, where Matilda has several key emotional solo scenes, was cut off.
- User felixgreaves sat in Upper Circle K23 (approx. £42) and found that the rake wasn’t sufficient for their child to see properly: “A tall seven-year-old (on a booster seat) could literally not see the stage due to the low rake.”
Hidden Gems
These seats are a real “Miracle”! If you want to add an extra something special to your visit, opt for Stalls Rows A-B, Stalls aisle seats, or a Dress Circle Box.
- Stalls Rows A-B (approx. £114). During specific numbers, performers soar over the audience on playground swings. User jorjaberry (who has seen Matilda 32 times!) says, “The swings going overhead [are] magical, and the cast interactions for this show are unlike any other”.
- Stalls Aisle Seats (approx. £78-£180). Actors occasionally run into the aisles, so choose a seat on the end of a row (particularly the central aisle) to be immersed in the magic.
- Dress Circle Box (approx. £90). These offer a unique viewing experience, plus theatregoers can expect a special guest appearance in the box after one particular scene…
