ABBA Voyage doesn’t have a strict dress code and you’ll see lots of people in jeans and t-shirts. However, many gig-goers choose to pay homage to the Scandi supergroup with ’70s inspired outfits or ABBA-themed costumes that make the experience even more fun. Whatever you choose to wear, we recommend comfortable shoes… especially if you’re on the dancefloor!

Please note that Afro wigs are prohibited at ABBA Voyage, as well as any clothing or accessories featuring flashing lights, illumination, or neon elements. You’ll be asked to remove these before going inside.

What did we wear at ABBA Voyage?

We got our ABBA Voyage Dance Booth tickets at short notice so my first thought was “What to wear? Aarghh!”. Like everyone else, I wasn’t sure whether to go full ABBA or more casual.

That problem was solved when I was nonchalantly browsing the rails of the Zara sale in Sloane Square – my ABBAteur dress almost fell off the rail and straight over my arm! I couldn’t believe it, the dress of dresses wondrously suited to the era. And in the sale!!

Decision made, we were going with the theme: ABBA all the way, 70s disco inspired.

The dress I wore was a dull gold, sequinned, with flared sleeves, a low neckline and full length. It was very comfortable and meant I didn’t have to worry about the shoes too much because comfy trainers or sandals would hardly be noticed under the skirt. Win Win! Totally ABBA.

I’m so happy we chose to dress up as many of the girls in the crowd were giddily stomping about in knee high platform boots, especially in metallic or white. Retro-style jumpsuits were also everywhere, worn with comfy platform sandals, strappy shoes and trainers definitely in evidence.

A few girls embraced and copied the beautiful glittery cape Frida wore in the show – an absolute stand out which was further enhanced by the magnificent light show.

My advice? Immerse yourself in the fabulous atmosphere as whether you are “dressed up” ABBA style or not there is no doubt this show will be memorable. It’s fun to dress up but once you are caught up in the culture that was and is ABBA, you are sure to have a great time whatever you’re wearing.

Top Tips for Your ABBA Voyage Outfit

• Choose practical footwear. This is especially important if you’ve booked tickets for the Dance Floor experience.
• Keep bags small. Large bags aren’t allowed on the Dance Floor, but cloakrooms are available.
• Check the weather. The concert is indoors, but you queue outside, so jackets are a good idea.
• Layer up. The venue temperature can vary, so bring layers to add or remove.
• Know your ticket type. We’ve already mentioned it… but if you’re standing, make sure your shoes are comfy – and if you’re sitting down, don’t wear anything too restrictive.
