This silly and moving Olivier-nominated musical version of the Christmas classic is full of singing mice and festive tunes. For all ages!

The Nutcracker in London!

Olivier-nominated children's show The Nutcracker from Little Bulb theatre returns to London this festive season. This fun-filled, musical reimagining of the classic ballet follows two squabbling siblings as they set off on a mystical journey to a magical realm and battle a dastardly Mouse King, and is filled with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, singing mice, spellbinding puppets, and tonnes of toe-tapping festive tunes - with not a tutu in sight! The Nutcracker is “a festive must-see” (Time and Leisure) and comes, fittingly, to the home of The Mousetrap, St Martin’s Theatre in the heart of Seven Dials for a limited run this Christmas - book your tickets today!

What is the children's show The Nutcracker about?

Christmas this year promises to be difficult for siblings Clara and Fitz - they have just moved to a horrible new house and are spending their first Christmas with just their dad, as their mum has recently passed away. Tensions are high, and when the two are gifted a nutcracker doll by their eccentric aunt, they squabble over the shared present. But it turns out this isn't just any ordinary toy - and soon the children are shrunk down and swept off on a magical journey to the Mousey Realm, where they must put their differences aside and work together to fight the dastardly Mouse King.

This silly, joyous reimaging of the classic Christmas story turns everything you thought you knew about The Nutcracker on its head! A non-dance version, the interactive, high energy production is loosely based on the original novella The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E. T. A. Hoffmann. Featuring a live band, plenty of cheesy mouse puns and hilarious reworked versions of all your favourite Christmas songs. The production premiered in 2024 at the Polka Theatre, where it delighted audiences and was nominated for an Olivier for Best Family Show and now makes its West End debut at the St Martin's Theatre home of - gulp - The Mousetrap!

Who are the cast of The Nutcracker?

The cast includes Clare Beresford (Wolf Witch Giant Fairy), Dominic Conway (Antarctica), Lakeisha Lynch-Stevens (Pied Piper), Caroline Partridge (The Roses) and Shamira Turner (Listen Dance), reprising their roles from the production’s original run.

Who are the creative team of The Nutcracker?

The Nutcracker is reimagined and created by Olivier Award-winning theatre company Little Bulb, and devised in collaboration with the cast.

Little Bulb is cofounded by co-artistic directors Clare Beresford, Dominic Conway and Alexander Scott, who also direct the production, and producer Emily Davis. Little Bulb’s previous credits include Olivier-winning folk opera Wolf Witch Giant Fairy in collaboration with the Royal Opera House, Antarctica and The Night that Autumn Turned to Winter, both in collaboration with the Bristol Old Vic, and Mountain Music with Farnham Maltings.
