After a two-year run on Broadway, followed by a successful US tour, smash-hit jukebox musical On Your Feet! makes its UK premiere at the West End’s London Coliseum, playing a strictly limited summer season. Charting the real lives and true love story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan, the electrifying musical features a back catalogue of the pair’s greatest hits.

Based on the duo’s rise to fame, On Your Feet! charts their childhood in Cuba to living on the streets of Miami, to rocketing to global stardom. With a host of toe-tapping tunes included, expect favourite numbers such as “Rhythm is Gonna Get You”, “Get on Your Feet”, “Conga”, “1-2-3” and many more.

Gloria Estefan and her band Miami Sound Machine were a hugely popular Latin-influenced pop music band in the latter part of the 1980’s. Later, Gloria went solo to even greater fame, teaming up with her producer husband Emilio Estefan to become an international music sensation. Considered as the most successful Latin crossover performer in music history, Gloria has sold over 100 million records worldwide.

Tallying up 38 number-one hits, including the Oscar-nominated “Music of My Heart”, the singer has received many honours over the course of her career, including 3 Grammy Awards, the Congressional Medal of Honour and an MTV Video Music Award. Her husband Emilio Estefan is a founder of her band Miami Sound Machine and an award-winning producer. Combined, the couple have won an astounding 26 Grammy awards.

The cast includes Christie Prades as Gloria Estefan, having played the role on Broadway, and George Ioannides (Annie) as Emilio Estenfan. The alternate Gloria is Philippa Stefani (In the Heights). Madalena Alberto plays Gloria Fajardo and Karen Mann plays Consuelo.

Featuring a book by Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman), the production is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Kinky Boots) and choreographed by Olivier Award-winner Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys).

Featuring a list of smash-hit songs that are guaranteed to have audiences dancing in their seats, Tony Award-nominated musical On Your Feet! arrives in the West End for a strictly limited season. The production plays at the London Coliseum from 14 June to 31 August 2019.

I really enjoyed the show. I didn’t feel compelled to revisit, but I did get a good vibe afterwards as it was a very feel-good performance with well known, catchy music which worked very well in a musical and an uplifting story line.
