What is Paddington The Musical about?
When his Aunt Lucy retires to a Home for Retired Bears, a young spectacled bear travels to London from his homeland of Peru, seeking a new home. With only a hat, coat and a case full of marmalade sandwiches to his name, the bear is lost, afraid, and lonely. When the Brown family meet the cub at Paddington station, with a note that reads “Please look after this bear” pinned to his lapel, they bring him along to their house in Windsor Gardens, despite Mr. Brown’s misgivings.
Though Paddington causes plenty of mishaps and hijinks, he soon settles into his new life in England. But, Paddington discovers that London isn't all polite smiles and cups of tea, and that the Brown family have plenty of problems of their own. When a sinister villain appears, putting Paddington’s life at risk, the Browns must decide just how far they’re willing to go to make this special little bear a part of the family.
First appearing in 1958 in the children's book A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond, Paddington has since become one of the most beloved fictional characters in the UK. As well as 29 best-selling books starring the precocious little bear, Paddington has also appeared in commercials, an immersive experience and even in a skit with Queen Elizabeth II as part of the Platinum Party at the Palace. Bond’s books have been adapted into multiple animated TV series, as well as a BAFTA-winning film series starring Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington.
This brand new musical is based on Bond’s popular book series and shows the much-loved character as you’ve never seen him before, so don’t miss out - secure your tickets today!
