Exciting news for boy band and Strictly fans: musical Rip It Up – The 60s is coming to the West End, featuring a supergroup starring cast. Witness McFly’s Harry Judd, JLS’s Aston Merrygold, Olympic gymnast Louis Smith and The Wanted’s Jay McGuinness bring a riot of song, dance, acrobatics and stunning visuals to the Garrick Theatre in February 2019. Hot on the heels of a successful UK tour, the show celebrates the 60s in all its psychedelic splendour.

All of the boys share a passion for dance, evidenced by their time on Strictly Come Dancing. Aston was a contestant on the 2017 series, dubbed ‘The People’s Champion’ after his shock exit in week 6. Harry emerged as the winner in 2011 while Louis won the 2012 season as well as the 2014 Strictly Christmas special. Jay rose to victory as the champion of the 2015 series.

The 2018 UK wide tour was a roaring success for Rip It Up – The 60s, which starred Harry, Louis and Aston. Now Jay joins them for the four-month West End run, completing the ridiculously talented foursome.

Jay is a former member of boy band The Wanted who garnered worldwide success with hits such as Glad You Came and the catchy All Time Low. Harry is a drummer and was a member of global pop phenomenon McFly and, later, McBusted. Aston rose to fame as a member of X Factor runners-up JLS and has gone on to enjoy a solo pop career. Louis found fame in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics when he won a Bronze medal in the pommel horse. Since then he has become a familiar face on television and on the stage.

Rip It Up – The 60s is a dose of pure energy featuring a heart-lifting showcase of dance as well as the most iconic sounds of the era. Listen to music from British legends like The Rolling Stones and the Beatles, and from American stars like The Beach Boys and The Doors. A state-of-the-art screen beams out real, definitive footage from the 60s, and there are even celebrity contributions to make the experience even more spectacular. Catch this winsome show at the Garrick Theatre from 7 February 2019.

Amazing! It is non stop dance with great music. I was sitting in the stalls so the dancers came down and danced with the audience which made it fun. It is not on for much longer but I would thoroughly recommend it if you get a chance. I would love to Read more

Absolutely loved the show, seeing the Strictly boys dancing was amazing. There isn’t a story line, it’s set as the filming of a TV show and is more of a showcase for the dancers but that’s exactly as it should be.
