This irrepressible, inventive musical begins with a children’s train set magically coming to life, and the fun has only just begun! Rusty, a small and obsolete steam train, is just one of the engines racing to be named fastest in the world. But can he beat the competition and win the heart of observation car Pearl? With the help of the legendary Starlight Express and a little bit of self-belief, maybe he can…Starlight Express first opened in London in 1984 and has its own impressive title as the ninth longest-running musical in West End history. It has since travelled all over the world and played to packed out audiences in Japan, Australia, the USA, and most famously in Bochum, Germany - where it has been welcoming crowds at a custom-built arena since 1988!
This Guinness World Record-holding musical is famously performed on rollerskates and promises a breathtaking night out as a cast of 40 whizz, spin and sing their hearts out around and above you at the state-of-the-art Starlight Auditorium.
A First Class Creative Team!
Andrew Lloyd Webber has taken on biblical stories in Jesus Christ Superstar, classic gothic romance in The Phantom of the Opera and bewildering but delightful anthropomorphic animals in Cats, but Starlight Express is like no other!Songs from Lloyd Webber and Richard Stilgoe in Starlight Express include “AC/DC”, “Light at the End of the Tunnel” and “Make Up My Heart. These catchy tunes, combined with thrilling new choreography by Ashley Nottingham, make it one of the most unique musicals around, and a truly unforgettable experience for all ages.
The creative team for this new London production is helmed by director Luke Sheppard, who has headed up recent West End hits & Juliet and The Little Big Things.
