Hester Collyer, daughter of a clergyman and wife of an esteemed judge, is struggling in the dying moments of an affair. She has left her husband for a younger man, but ex-Battle of Britain pilot Freddie Page isn’t what she expected or needs. As Hester finds herself stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea, the watery depths seem like the only way out.The Deep Blue Sea is one of post-war dramatist Terence Rattigan’s best plays and draws on themes of repressed emotions, obsessive love and isolation in mid-20th century Britain.
