What is The Nutcracker ballet about?

On a snowy Christmas Eve in London, young Clara unwraps a magical present. Beneath the paper lies a Nutcracker doll, shaped like a toy soldier. But this isn’t a usual Nutcracker: it is enchanted, and springs to life! Beckoning Clara on an adventure, the Nutcracker takes her to a faraway land where handsome strangers, strange creatures and a terrifying confrontation with the Mouse King await.

As the pair drift through their new winter wonderland toward the kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy, audiences can marvel at spellbinding choreography and Tchaikovsky’s soaring music, including “Waltz of the Flowers” and “The Nutcracker Suite”.This world-famous ballet is a spectacle for all ages.

About the Birmingham Royal Ballet Nutcracker

Birmingham Royal Ballet’s production, created especially for the Royal Albert Hall, brings the story of Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker toy to life with beautiful period costumes and light projections. The whole family will be swept away across an enchanted land full of snowstorms, Sugar Plum Fairies and the evil Mouse King as the clock strikes midnight.
