Pirates of Penzance Tickets: Swashbuckling Fun!
Batten down the hatches and get ready to enjoy one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s best-loved operas, The Pirates of Penzance! The English National Opera’s smash-hit revival, originally directed by Mike Leigh, returns to the London Coliseum to deliver even more silliness, catchy music, and swashbuckling hijinks.About The Pirates of Penzance
No production revels in pure silliness quite like The Pirates of Penzance. Bursting at the seams with absurd plots, wild and witty wordplay and brilliant songs, join an apprentice pirate as he attempts to woo the Major General’s daughter. Nothing is straightforward, however, and at the same time, his bumbling buccaneer-shipmates are trying to outwit a group of police officers!Gilbert & Sullivan’s Irresistible Farce
Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic opera is a hugely popular sea-faring romp and has some of the most memorable melodies in the entire genre. From “‘I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General’ to ‘A Policeman’s Lot is Not a Happy One”, audiences will soon find their toes tapping and shoulders shaking as the hilarious escapades get underway. The dramatist and composer duo created several operas and operettas, including H.M.S. Pinafore and The Mikado. No matter the subject - and they covered everything from pirates to fairy courts and chaotic love affairs - they delighted in exploring their own topsy-turvy logic in which the absurd and the melodious rub shoulders.
