The Toxic Avenger tells the story of Toxie, a mutant freak with superhuman powers and a supersized heart who dreams of keeping New Jersey safe, saving the planet and winning the love of a girl. A hilarious toe-tapping musical that is bound to make you scream, laugh and sing, The Toxic Avenger is not to be missed.
The Toxic Avenger first opened at the Southwark Playhouse where it enjoyed an acclaimed sold-out run as well as 6 Off West End Award nominations. The production welcomes back Mark Anderson who will return to the role of Melvin/Toxie with an exciting new ensemble including Natalie Hope, Emma Salvo, Oscar Conlon-Morrey, and Ché Francis. Peter Bindloss and Sophia Lewis join the company as understudies.
Created by Joe DiPietro and Daniel Bryan and based on the 1984 film of the same name, the Tony-Award-winning team were previously behind the hit West End show Memphis.
The Toxic Avenger takes place in the town of Tromaville, in a time when the citizens need a hero. When Melvin Ferd the Third, a scientist with high aspirations of cleaning up the town faces up to the corrupt Mayor, her henchmen throw him into a barrel of toxic waste, turning him into New Jersey’s first ever superhero – The Toxic Avenger!
A seven-foot tall freak with super-strength and a super-heart, Toxie is on a mission to save the world and get the girl, who just so happens to be the prettiest (blindest) librarian in town. The Toxic Avenger is a hilarious love story with an environmental twist.
The Toxic Avenger is set to begin performances at the Arts Theatre on 23rd September 2017 and run for a limited period until 3rd December 2017 and is not to be missed.
