What Is Tosca About?
Tosca is an opera based on the 1887 play by Victorien Sardou, La Tosca. The story follows the beautiful singer Tosca, who is deeply in love with the artist Cavaradossi, but corrupt and cruel police chief Scarpia is competing for her affections. When Scarpia arrests Cavaradossi for aiding an escaped political prisoner, he gives Tosca a choice: reveal the prisoner’s location or watch Cavaradossi die. What choice will Tosca make? Will love win, or will there be a devastating end?
