Mike Bartlett’s Provocative New Play - Creative Team
If you want to enjoy a drama that dissects the pain - and painfully funny - truth of modern relationships, Mike Bartlett is the man to watch. The Olivier Award-winning writer’s work includes Cock, which was last revived with Taron Egerton and Jonathan Bailey, and Shakespeare-inspired speculative drama King Charles III. To a wider audience, his magnum opus is BBC drama Doctor Foster, which had millions glued to their screens for two thrilling seasons.Unicorn is directed by James Macdonald, who is known for his extensive work with contemporary playwrights including Caryl Churchill (Top Girls) and Sarah Kane (Blasted).
Unicorn West End Cast
Stephen Mangan and Nicola Walker appear as married couple Polly and Nick in Unicorn, following their match-made-in-heaven performances in The Split.Green Wing and Alan Partridge star Mangan returns to the West End in this new prestige drama, following his acclaimed performance as Scrooge in the Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol. Known for his comic and dramatic acting chops, his theatre credits include Pinter’s The Birthday Party, backstage comedy Noises Off and a rip-roaring version of Bertie Wooster in Perfect Nonsense.
Audiences will recognise Nicola Walker from television dramas Spooks and Last Tango in Halifax, for which she earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She appeared opposite Stephen Mangan in The Split, playing a divorce lawyer - but in Unicorn finds herself on the other side of the table as her own relationship comes under scrutiny!
Mangan and Walker are joined by The Crown’s Erin Doherty, whose stage credits include The Divide and Junkyard.
