Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain stars as Nora in Jamie Lloyd’s bold re-imagining of Ibsen’s classic play.

Jessica Chastain returns to Broadway

Award-winning actress Jessica Chastain is back on Broadway in breath-taking Ibsen drama A Doll’s House. This thrilling new version of the European classic is directed by Jamie Lloyd (Betrayal; Cyrano de Bergerac) and runs at the Hudson Theatre.

Although seemingly happy in her marriage to bank manager Torvald, Nora is harbouring a secret. As the stifling reality of daily life and illusion of domestic bliss bears down upon her, Nora’s comfortable existence threatens to collapse.

Ibsen’s haunting story of a woman who longs to break free of convention shocked audiences when it premiered in 1879, ushering in a whole new era of European theater. In the hands of visionary director Jamie Lloyd and acclaimed playwright Amy Herzog (4000 Miles), this classic story is fresher and more relevant than ever before.

Stage and screen star Jessica Chastain is Nora. Her impressive credits include Academy Award-nominated films Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker. Further casting includes Tony Award winner Arian Moayed as Torvald.

This winning creative team revitalizes a much-loved classic. Book A Doll’s House Broadway tickets now to experience this staggering play live on stage.

Fabulous cast with intentionally minimal sets & costumes. Not a fan of the ending tweak (& also didn’t have a great view of it from my seat) which took me out of the story. Otherwise great updated take on an Ibsen classic.

Powerful performance by the entire cast. With no sets and only chairs for props, it may not be every theatre goers cup of tea, but it makes you focus on the actors’ talent and skills as well as the message of the play.

Was introduced to Jamie Lloyd’s pristine, cinematic, “less-is-much-more” directorial hand through his immaculate and utterly engrossing production of Betrayal in 2019. Loved, loved, LOVED that. That was my first Pinter/Betrayal experience and set an Read more
