In the summer of ‘69, mother and housewife Pearl Kantrowitz makes her annual trip from Brooklyn to a bungalow colony in the Catskills - but this year’s journey is like no other. As the country reaches for the moon, a free-spirited movement is sweeping the nation, and an unexpected encounter sidetracks Pearl, leading her to a music festival happening nearby. Unknown to Pearl, this is Woodstock, where a counterculture revolution begins; Pearl discovers a life unlike anything she’s ever known as music begins to change the world.
The History of A Walk on the Moon
A Walk on the Moon is a brand new musical based on the award-winning 1999 film of the same name, which starred Diane Lane and Viggo Mortensen. First staged by the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, the musical’s official opening was delayed in 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic. The show later debuted at the George Street Playhouse in New Jersey in 2022. This new staging marks the show’s off-Broadway debut.

The musical features a script adapted by Gray, and is directed by Tony Award-nominee Sheryl Kaller (Mothers and Sons, Next Fall). Music and lyrics are by Tony and Grammy Award-nominee AnnMarie Milazzo (Joy, Pretty Dead Girl) with additional lyrics by Gray. Choreography is by Josh Prince (Shrek the Musical, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical).
