Betrayal on Broadway Tickets

Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre

Hot on the heels of a sold-out West End run, Tom Hiddleston makes his Broadway debut in director Jamie Lloyd’s acclaimed revival of Betrayal. Catch this intimate and moving tale of a seven-year affair in reverse at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre from August 14.

After selling out at London’s Harold Pinter Theatre earlier this year, director Jamie Lloyd’s lauded revival of Betrayal crosses over to Broadway. Starring Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox, this minimalist but moving production opens at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

Betrayal is the story of an affair between gallery owner Emma and her husband’s best friend Jerry. Notable for its reverse chronology, the play opens with a farewell between lovers and closes with the drunken sparks of affection seven years prior. Full of various acts of betrayal, it features Pinter’s trademark sparse dialogue, heavy pauses and cutting humour.

Tom Hiddleston plays cuckolded husband Robert, with Zawe Ashton as Emma and Charlie Cox as Jerry. All three mark their Broadway debuts with Betrayal.

Hiddleston was last seen on stage in Hamlet (2017) and won an Olivier Award for Cymbeline (2007). He has received wide acclaim as Loki in the Thor movies and won a Golden Globe for The Night Manager.

Zawe Ashton is best recognized as Vod in Fresh Meat, and previously worked with Jamie Lloyd on The Maids in the West End. She most recently appeared in art-horror film Velvet Buzzsaw.

Charlie Cox was the star of Marvel’s Daredevil series and will be familiar to US audiences for Boardwalk Empire. Like Ashton, he’s no stranger to collaboration with Jamie Lloyd, having acted in his revival of The Lover & The Collection.

Betrayal is produced by director Jamie Lloyd’s company and the Ambassador Theatre Group. Lloyd has an impressive catalogue of work, with his Pinter at the Pinter season bringing together actors and directors to celebrate the writer's one-act plays.

Sure to be an affecting and phenomenally acted take on Pinter’s classic, Betrayal runs at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre from August 14, with an opening night on September 5.

It is one 90-minute act. Goes by fast. There are moments of complete silence when you can hear the neighbors breathing. The play is intense. Very depend on the performers. I wonder what it would be like with a different cast, because the current cast Read more

The acting is great and the story (about a marriage falling apart) is compelling. This particular show is very quiet, with long pauses. I was able to hear (and was then frustratingly distracted by) people crinkling their candies, coughing, watches Read more

Amazing show with an incredibly talented cast. Tom Hiddleston & Charlie Cox both of whom I've seen in Marvel movies & TV shows worked so well together you believed they were best friends.
