Lerner & Loewe’s medieval classic, reimagined
Lerner & Loewe’s vibrant Arthurian musical Camelot gets a makeover for the 21st century, as Aaron Sorkin and Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher mount a revival of the show for Lincoln Center Theater.Inspired by T.H. White’s The Once and Future King, Camelot is a Tony Award-winning musical about democracy, power, and passion both in the court and in love. It features iconic figures from the legends including King Arthur, Queen Guenevere and Sir Lancelot, and much-loved songs including “If Ever I Would Leave You,” “What Do the Simple Folk Do?” and “Camelot.”
This new version of the Camelot musical retains Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s original music and lyrics, with an updated book by Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network).
Bartlett Sher directs, adding another of Lerner & Loewe’s best works to his credits. His previous production of My Fair Lady was a smash-hit amongst critics and audiences, and recently transferred to London’s West End.
