Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway Tickets

Al Hirschfeld Theatre

Baz Luhrmann’s revolutionary film is transformed into a theatrical extravaganza, featuring a chart-topping, decadent pop playlist.

Originally premiering at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre to critical acclaim, the stage adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s classic musical jukebox film Moulin Rouge! opens in New York this spring. A theatrical extravaganza full of pop hits, Moulin Rouge! The Musical will dazzle theatergoers at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Set in the Montmartre Quarter of Paris at the turn of the 20th century, Moulin Rouge! The Musical invites audiences into a world of excess and grandeur, where bohemians mingle with aristocrats and the champagne flows freely. Amidst the glamor and music of the famous Moulin Rouge dance hall, composer Christian and star chanteuse Satine become doomed lovers.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical features a book by Tony Award-winning playwright John Logan, whose other work includes Red and Peter and Alice for the stage, and The Aviator, Skyfall and Penny Dreadful for the screen. Director Alex Timbers (Rocky, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) pulls double duty on Broadway with his production of Beetlejuice also hugely popular. Emmy Award nominee and choreographer Sonya Tayeh and designer Dereck McLane are also part of the creative team.

With an updated playlist remixing the film’s soundtrack with 21st century pop classics, Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre celebrates truth, beauty, freedom and love in an enchanting theatrical celebration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much are Moulin Rouge Broadway tickets?

Ticket prices range from about $71 to over $295, depending on performance dates and availability.

What are the most expensive tickets for Moulin Rouge on Broadway?

Center Orchestra seats in rows F-M cost over $290 and offer a fantastic view of this jaw-dropping musical spectacular. The Can Can Tables are also top price, and offer a completely unique experience as the catwalk surrounds you from here.

The sumptuous set design and high-energy performances are breathtaking from the center of the Orchestra and theatergoers in seats like H107 rave about its “perfect clear view of the stage”. One audience member in seat M110 summarised the quality of the view and experience as “Just...WOW!!!”.

How can I get cheap tickets for Moulin Rouge on Broadway?

For the best availability in cheaper price bands, book in advance by a month or so for this popular musical. Tickets for weekday performances can be up to 25% cheaper than weekends, so also take advantage of this price difference if you can be flexible with dates.

Matinees can be a great way to save money. For example, seats in the Mezzanine block, rows C-F, are sometimes 33% cheaper on a Wednesday matinee compared to the same block of seats that evening. These are also some of the cheapest seats in the theater, and people who have sat here have praised the “great” view (F102). Although more distant, sitting in the back and sides of the Mezzanine is an easy way to save money - and the bombastic set design that spills out into the auditorium is still a sight to behold from seats like R26.
