Lynn Nottage’s stirring new play
After the success of Tony Award winning play Sweat, Lynn Nottage and Kate Whoriskey team up for a brand new play, starring Uzo Aduba.In a truck stop sandwich shop, the kitchen staff are embracing the chance to reclaim their lives after serving time in prison. Despite the owner’s callous attempts to keep them down, the group are determined to achieve the perfect sandwich, and find new purpose after incarceration.
Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Nottage brings her singular ability to make the political personal into this funny and moving play, with the help of frequent collaborator and director Kate Whoriskey (Ruined; Sweat). The production is supported by the Art for Justice Fund, a sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
Casting includes Emmy Award winning actress Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black; In Treatment), Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us), Edmund Donovan, Reza Salazar and Kara Young.
Exploring political issues through the lens of ordinary people, you won’t want to miss out on Clyde’s play tickets. The show runs at the Hayes Theater for a limited season, through January 16 2022.
