Oscar winner Adrian Brody makes his Broadway debut this spring in The Fear of 13 on Broadway, coming to the James Earl Jones theatre, in the heart of Times Square, for a strictly limited run. This blistering play is based on a remarkable true story of a man wrongfully convicted on death row, and comes to New York following a critically acclaimed, Olivier-nominated run in London. Brody reprises his “awe-inspiring performance” (London Theatre) from the production's London run, and is joined by Emmy nominee Tessa Thomason, also making her Broadway debut. What is the play The Fear of 13 about?
When a routine traffic stop goes horribly wrong, Nick Yarris is plunged into a living nightmare; wrongfully convicted for murder, he’s sentenced to death. After over two unbearable decades on death row, Nick is unable to bear the excruciating wait any longer and petitions the court not for an appeal, but for an execution date. What happens next is truly unbelievable, so sit down and let Nick tell the story of exactly what happened…
Partially told in the style of a one-man show, partially stunning ensemble piece, The Fear of 13 is based on the documentary of the same name, which was narrated by Yarris, and charts Yarris’ life from a troubled youth to his experience on death row. The Fear of 13 premiered at London’s Donmar Warehouse in 2024 to critical acclaim, and also starred Brody in his London Theatre debut, earning Olivier nominations for Best New Play and for Best Actor for Brody.
