What is the solo show Josh Sharp's ta-da! about?

This inventive theatrical work is a hybrid of stand-up and self-reflection, featuring illusions, intimate storytelling and innovative video design - plus the dazzling feat of memorising over 2000 PowerPoint slides. Described by director Sam Pinkleton as “an utterly breathless, indescribable, idiotic feat of theatrical wizardry” (Playbill), ta da! is hilarious, heart-warming and heroically stupid.

Josh Sharp's ta-da! premiered in early workshop versions across regional US venues before landing its Off-Broadway debut. Developed through the Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Fellowship and supported by The Orchard Project, the show has been refined across residencies and readings, receiving strong word-of-mouth and festival acclaim for its unique tone and storytelling craft. With a new joke every 2.1 seconds ta da! is jam-packed with humour and heart - expect to be moved, delighted and thoroughly entertained. 

The Cast and Creative Team of Josh Sharp's ta-da!

ta-da! is performed and created by Josh Sharp. An alumni of the Upright Citizens Brigade, Sharp is an award-winning theatre-maker, actor and comedian whose previous works include the Obie Award-winning A Folk Tale, Open Magic and Dicks: the Musical, an award winning A24 movie adaptation of Sharp and Aaron Jackson's off-off-Broadway show, F*CKING IDENTICAL TWINS. His TV credits include Search Party, Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Christmas?, and At Home With Amy Sedaris.

The production is directed by Tony-winner Sam Pinkleton. Pinkleton is a choreographer and director, best known for his Tony-winning direction on Cole Escola's hilarious play Oh, Mary! And his Tony-nominated choreography on the musical Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Other credits include Amélie, Macbeth, La Cage aux Folles, and Here We Are.

Josh Sharp's ta-da! features magic by Skylar Fox (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), scenic design by Meredith Ries (Untitled Danceshowpartything), co-video design by Stivo Arnoczy (Primer For A Failed Superpower), and lighting design by Obie Award winner Cha See (Oh, Mary!).
