About the Lempicka Musical

Spanning a lifetime of political and personal turmoil, embark on an incredible journey with Tamara de Lempicka, a woman born in Poland who lived through two wars and started out scrubbing floors. Lempicka broke down barriers and taboos with her artwork, relationships and unashamed self-expression, and even today is admired by Madonna and Barbra Streisand.

With a pop-infused score that will thrill and a story as epic as Evita or Les Mis, Lempicka has already played sold-out seasons at Williamstown Theatre Festival and the La Jolla Playhouse. It is directed by Rachel Chavkin, whose distinct creative vision led Hadestown and Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812 to become audience favorites.

Lempicka Musical Cast

Eden Espinosa stars as Tamara de Lempicka, adding a dynamic new role to a stunning stage career. Espinosa is best known for playing Elphaba in Wicked, and in this new musical, she has “finally found a part to match her high-voltage talent” (The New York Times).

A Unique Musical Hits Broadway

This musical is unlike any other playing on Broadway - not even Chavkin’s Hadestown! With piercing vocals and a stunning performance from Espinosa and a compelling true story, it has already been named a New York Times Critics Pick “that’s as ambitious and complex as the painter it frames onstage.” (The Los Angeles Times). Forget Warhol, Monet and Van Gogh: this remarkable woman is ready to take center stage.

The performers were fantastic and very deserving of their Tony nominations. The music has absolutely incredible moments but many others fall short. The script could have used a lot more time to develop.
