Matilda tells the story of Matilda Wormwood, an extraordinarily gifted little girl who is a bookworm like no other. Her life at home, however, doesn’t reflect her spectacular talents – she’s ignored and belittled by her dim-witted parents and lazy older brother. When she finally starts school her fates don’t seem much better as she meets the mean and wicked headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Only her caring class teacher, Miss Honey, recognises Matilda’s true talents. But will the two of them be able to face their demons and stand up for what is right?

Bertie Carvel (Ink, Doctor Foster) reprise his role as Miss Trunchbull – for which he won and Olivier Award - from the original West End run. He is once again joined by Lauren Ward (Caroline or Change) as Miss Honey, who also originated her role in the West End. Alongside them are Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro as Matilda, Gabriel Ebert (Brief Encounter) as Mr Wormwood, and Lesli Margherita (Zorro) as Mrs Wormwood.

Roald Dahl’s original story has been adapted for the stage by the multi award-winning writer Dennis Kelly (Orphans, Utopia). Australian musical comedian Tim Minchin joins him to write a spectacular score, including the now classic songs “When I Grow Up” and “Naughty”.

A story of the power of imagination and one little girl’s courage in the face of adversity, Matilda is an enduring tale that will stay with you long after you’ve left the theater.
