She’s making her Broadway debut, dears! Classic family comedy Mrs. Doubtfire has been adapted as a brand-new musical, bringing the hilarious tale of a nanny with a secret to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
Based on the 1993 film starring Robin Williams, Mrs. Doubtfire is the tale of struggling actor and divorcee Daniel Hillard. After losing custody of his children, Daniel poses as an eccentric nanny as a way of spending more time with them… but soon finds his double-life landing him in a whole lot of awkward and hilarious situations! Adapted with new songs including “Make Me a Woman” and “I Want to Be There”, Mrs. Doubtfire is a feel-good musical about the meaning of family and fatherhood.
Mrs. Doubtfire transfers to Broadway from an acclaimed world premiere in Seattle, starring Tony Award nominee Rob McClure (Chaplin; Beetlejuice). Further casting includes Jenn Gambatese as Miranda Gillard, Brad Oscar as Frank Hillard, Charity Angél Dawson as Wanda Sellner and J. Harrison Ghee as Andre.
The creative team features director Jerry Zaks, who won a Tony Award for Hello, Dolly!, and choreographer Lorin Latarro (Waitress). Something Rotten!’s Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick provide music and lyrics for Mrs. Doubtfire; Karey Kirkpatrick also co-wrote the book with John O’Farrell.
