Rupert Grint to join Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway

Rupert Grint is set to play Ron Weasley for the first time in 15 years in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. Grint played Ron in all eight of the films, and now he will star in the multi-award-winning play following Tom Felton, who also appeared in the films as Draco Malfoy and wraps up his time performing in the Broadway production on 3 January, 2027. Rupert Grint in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Rupert Grint rose to fame when he was cast as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film series from 2001 to 2011. A British actor, Grint has continued to have a successful career in film, television and theatre. His stage credits include a West End debut in Sweets at the Harold Pinter Theatre in 2013, before making his Broadway debut a year later in It’s Only a Play at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. You can catch Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit in Ebenezer, a new film alongside Johnny Depp at the end of 2026.

He will be taking over the role of Ron Weasley from Daniel Fredrick, whose recent theatre credits include The Lehman Trilogy.

Rupert Grint will appear in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for 17 weeks, from 2 February to 30 May 2027.
