The Play That Goes Wrong on Broadway Tickets
Ready the ambulances, because the cast of The Play That Goes Wrong might actually break a leg! This comedic riff about an am-dram group’s disastrous whodunit performance is guaranteed to have your sides splitting at the Lyceum Theatre.
After garnering rapturous applause and laughter in London’s West End, Mischief Theatre Company’s The Play That Goes Wrong is causing even more mayhem on Broadway. Following a haphazard amateur dramatics society as they scramble their way through a murder mystery, the new comedy plays at the Lyceum Theatre.
It’s opening night for Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’s latest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor. This classic 1920s whodunit is the perfect evening out for Agatha Christie fans… that is, if the cast and crew weren’t in it! A teetering set, actors stumbling over their lines (and each other) and a corpse that seems to be moving just a little too much: The Play That Goes Wrong is a hilarious homage to theater and murder mysteries that just don’t seem to go right.
The original West End cast of The Play That Goes Wrong cross the Atlantic for their Broadway debuts, including Mischief Theatre Company founders and writers Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields. The show is directed by Mark Bell, with set design by Nigel Hook and original music by Rob Falconer.
Mischief Theatre Company is the brainchild of Lewis, Sayer and Shields during their time at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and The Play That Goes Wrong is their first production. It proved to be an instant hit with audiences and critics, winning the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
Get ready for an evening out where the cast might actually break a leg. The Play That Goes Wrong at the Lyceum Theatre is perfect for anyone who likes their laughs loud and mysteries a bit silly.
