The Refuge Plays Tickets On Sale Now

If you could hear first-hand from long-dead family members, what you say to them, and what questions would you want answered? In The Refuge Plays world premiere at Laura Pels Theatre, see how one woman does just that. Award-winning playwright Nathan Alan Davies’ bold re-imagining of the family play is a passionate, funny and thoughtful look at what home means, explored through three generations.

About The Refuge Plays

In the middle of the night, Gail is deep in the woods in southern Illinois. A ghost has just told her that she will die in the next 24 hours.

This is the start of The Refuge Plays, an epic new play that spans 70 years in the history of one Black family. This brand-new take on the classic American intergenerational drama flips the script and asks what it would be like to speak to ancestors who are long gone.

Interesting play, but too long, at over three hours. A bit of editing would help.

It's 3:30 but the stories are good and entertaining.

Long show. I found it unnecessarily long.
