What is the musical Titanique about?

What if Céline Dion had been on the Titanic? That’s the gloriously deranged question that drives Titanique, a parody musical where the French-Canadian chanteuse (sort of) recounts Jack and Rose’s infamous love story. In her version, things go... a little differently.

Set on the ill-fated ocean liner but spun through Céline’s glitter-flecked perspective, the plot gets deliciously unhinged as familiar faces return with new flair, iconic scenes get reimagined, and icebergs become afterthoughts to the real drama: love, song, and vocal belting that can break glass.

Featuring a shipload of Céline Dion hits, including “My Heart Will Go On”, “All By Myself”, “To Love You More”, and more, Titanique is an outrageous send-up that mixes drag energy, heartfelt moments, and theatrical chaos into one unmissable voyage.

The History of Titanique

Titanique began as a scrappy Off-Broadway production at The Asylum NYC in 2022, quickly gaining a devoted cult following for its chaotic comedy, live vocals, and Céline-centric concept. What started small went full iceberg-breaking: the show won the Lucille Lortel Award, Off-Broadway Alliance Award, Dorian Theater Award, and Las Culturistas Culture Award for 2023 Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical.

Titanique was co-created by Tye Blue, Marla Mindelle and Constantine Rousouli - Blue directed the production, while Mindelle and Rousouli starred as Céline Dion and Jack. The parody’s blend of high-energy camp, tight harmonies, and deep knowledge of both Titanic and Céline Dion pop culture earned rave reviews. 

In 2025, Titanique crossed the Atlantic to London, winning the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, cementing its status as a global cult phenomenon. Now playing at the St. James Theatre, this is its biggest and boldest voyage yet - proof that the heart really will go on... preferably with jazz hands.

The Titanique Cast 

The Broadway cast of Titanique features co-writer Marla Mindelle (Sister Act, Special, The Big Gay Jamboree), reprising the role of Céline Dion, which she originated in the show's off-Broadway premiere. Mindelle is an Olivier, Drama Desk and Obie Award winner.

Who are the creative team of Titanique? 

The creative team is led by director and choreographer Tye Blue (RuPaul’s Drag Race, Rumer Willis Live), with musical arrangements and supervision by Nicholas Connell (The Sing-Off) and Choreography by Ellenore Scott (Ragtime).

The show’s book is co-written by Mindelle, Blue and Constantine Rousouli (AJ and the Queen, Charmed), with music by Céline Dion. 

Costume design is by Alejo Vietti (Jersey Boys), with scenic design by Gabriel Hainer Evansohn (What the Constitution Means to Me), hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe (Death Becomes Her) and lighting by Paige Seber (Evita).
