Uncle Vanya Tickets: Steve Carrell’s Broadway Debut

Golden Globe Award winner Steve Carrell (The Office, Foxcatcher) makes a huge Broadway debut in 2024, starring in a revival of European classic Uncle Vanya at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Carrell plays the titular character in Chekhov’s darkly funny play about unrequited love and family power dynamics. Book tickets now to not miss one of the most exciting shows of the season.

About Uncle Vanya on Broadway

Sonya and her Uncle Vanya have lived solitary lives for years, with their focus devoted to managing the family’s farm. But things are about to change. Sonya’s father is returning with his new, glamorous wife. As the summer heat closes in, unexpected love blooms, desire boils over, and long-held resentments force the family to reckon with the ghosts of their unfulfilled lives.

Anton Chekhov’s masterful character study, steeped in family dynamics and dark wit, is translated in a new version by Heidi Schreck, whose Tony Award-nominated play What the Constitution Means to Me played a sold-out season in 2019. Directed by Lila Neugebauer (The Waverly Gallery), and with a dynamic cast of top-class actors, this new version is set to take Broadway by storm.

Steve Carrell in Uncle Vanya

Hollywood star Steve Carrell takes his first bow on Broadway in the lead role of Uncle Vanya. Carrell is best known for his comedic roles in The Office and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, but has proven his dramatic talents are just as sharp in the Academy Award-nominated Foxcatcher and Battle of the Sexes.

Carrell is joined by Tony nominee Alison Pill (Three Tall Women) as Sonya, Emmy nominee William Jackson Harper (The Good Place) as Astrov, Tony Award winner Jayne Houdyshell as Mama Voinitski, Mia Katigbak as Marina, Tony Award nominee Alfred Molina (Art, Red) as Alexander Serabryakov, and Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose (Caroline, Or Change) as Yelena.

A little tepid and unfocused. Excellent talent on stage, and it was a thrill to see some of these wonderful actors give stage performances, but the direction was poor and indulgent. Lots of director sauce.

An excellent ride with outstanding performances from the full cast. Steve Carell is incredible and makes the absolute most of every second he is on stage. Highly recommend!!
