Paul Mescal, Patsy Ferran and Anjana Vasan star in this muscular, 5-star revival, which transfers from the Almeida Theatre for six weeks.

A blistering, all-star revival

The Almeida Theatre’s mesmerising revival of A Streetcar Named Desire transfers to the Phoenix Theatre, with Oscar nominee Paul Mescal reprising his outstanding performance in the West End for six weeks only. When married couple Stella and Stanley are unexpectedly visited by her estranged sister Blanche, a hidden past obscured by the boundaries of fiction and reality emerges. Suspicious and brutish Stanley edges closer to uncovering the truth, but a violent clash upends their lives forever. A classic of American theatre, Tennessee Williams’ iconic play is revived in a formidable production from Olivier Award winning director Rebecca Frecknall (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club; Summer and Smoke). The A Streetcar Named Desire West End cast transfers from the Almeida, with Paul Mescal (Normal People) as Stanley, Patsy Ferran as Blanche, Anjana Vasan as Stella and Dwane Walcott as Mitch. This five-star sensation sold out almost immediately during its premiere at the Almeida Theatre, so book A Streetcar Named Desire tickets now to see Paul Mescal and his astonishing castmates in this devastating masterpiece.

A great rendition of this classic. Though I knew the story I still ended up crying. The lady playing blanche really is the star of the show, she revealed a totally new interpretation of the character for me.
