Royal Court Theatre

The Royal Shakespeare Company and Charlie Josephine’s explosive queer Western transfers to London for a rollicking theatre ride.

Enjoy a Wild Queer Western with Cowbois Tickets

Grab your chaps, spurs and stetsons and head for the Royal Court Theatre, where the most rollicking show in London is playing! The Royal Shakespeare Company and Charlie Josephine’s “joyous queer romp” Cowbois is welcoming you to a brand new frontier of theatregoing, and it’s going to be a wild ride.

About Cowbois

In a small, sleepy Wild West town, the women drift through each day aimlessly. Their husbands have been missing for almost a year after being swept up in the gold rush, and the only movement on the horizon is the tumbleweed. It’s a small, cut-off town with just one drunken sheriff holding down the fort.

Things are about to change though, as handsome bandit Jack Cannon swaggers into the saloon! They’re on the run from bounty hunters and this looks like the perfect place to lie low. Armed with a gun and a devastatingly attractive wink, Jack’s arrival marks the explosive onset of a gender revolution that might just light a fire under every woman’s skirts…

Nominated for two WhatsOnStage Awards for Best New Play and Best Costume Design, this charming and riotous new play premiered at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2023 and now sets its sights south on London town.

A fun, slightly surreal, queer tale of women left in a Western town whilst the men went off to work. The play (with music) shows how the women manage their town, its businesses and each other. It seems quite idyllic and peaceful, even if some of the Read more
